From A1 to C2: The CEFR Level

The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) is an international standard used to describe language proficiency. It divides language learning into six levels, from beginner (A1) to near-native fluency (C2).

A1-A2

ELEMENTARY

LEVEL A1 – Beginner: Understand and use basic phrases, introduce yourself and interact in simple conversations.
LEVEL A2 – Elementary: Talk about daily activities, express preferences, and handle basic social interactions.

B1-B2

INTERMEDIATE

LEVEL B1 – Intermediate: Participate in conversations about : familiar topics, express opinions, and describe past events.
LEVEL B2 – Upper Intermediate: Speak with confidence on a variety of subjects, understand complex texts, and debate ideas.

C1-C2

ADVANCED

LEVEL C1 – Advanced: Use Spanish in professional and academic settings, understand nuances, and express yourself naturally.
LEVEL C2 – Proficiency: Achieve near-native fluency, master advanced grammar, and understand Spanish in all its complexity.
